Mix Description

A combination of reggae and Romanian traditional music I have recorded and produced for my band.
The drums were programmed by me using Addictive Drums.
The bass was tracked using a Behringer UMC1820, rhythm guitars were tracked using a Rhode NT-1 mic through a Fender HotRod Ville 212 (if i recall it right), some of the other guitars were tracked using a Lexicon interface with some Amplitube 4 amp sims ran over them.
The piano and the organ were programmed by me using VST instruments.
The saxophone was recorded using the same Rhode NT-1A ran through a Dynacord Powermate M-1000.
The voice was recorded with the same gear as the saxophone.
The accordion at the end was recorded directly into the same Dynacord.
The song was mixed mainly with Waves plugins, with some FabFilter one’s too.

Mix Feedback from others:

  • Sounds really good! The snare sounds kinda squishy to me. It’s not that normal super poppy, 311-style snare I’m used to hearing in reggae music. But maybe it’s nice to get something different once in a while 😉

    • Thank you! Regarding the snare – that’s because I don’t really dig that kind of reggae, to be honest. I like either classical acts, such as Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru, Gregory Isaacs or modern acts like Mellow Mood, Paolo Baldini, Dub Inc. or Morgan Heritage, to name a few. 😀 Listen to Gregory Isaac’s album “Night Nurse”, that’s the kind of snare sound that I like, especially on “Cool Down the Pace” or “Night Nurse”.
