Recorded on Logic Pro X with a Scarlett interface. Used EZ Drummer and Addictive Keys as additional plugins, acoustic guitar DI’d, all vocals through a Rode NT1a and everything else through Logic.

I would lose the acoustic guitar DI and mic it with the Rode. Piezo mics always sound flat and lifeless. Otherwise I dig it, even the verb.
It’s not bad. Kinda sounds like everything’s been washed in reverb. I’d like to hear more of the direct sound coming through or maybe just mess with the Pre-Delays a little bit. With everything in the verb, it’s making it seem small and distant.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree – the first mix was worse than this one for the points you made. I used to have an all in one 16 track Yamaha recorder, I just had to hit the button for reverb and it sounded great. Logic has Space Designer, which I do not understand one little bit.
I’ve added pre-delays to the vocals and it sounds better, and removed reverb elsewhere where it wasn’t required. I’ve done the drum reverb through the plugin rather than through Logic, again better.
I think my mixing in general is an issue here. I bought Adam Audio studio monitors to try to get a better “one size fits all” mix, but I’ve noticed that on some speakers it sounds boomier than most. Only got these a couple of months ago so much work to be done, and so I do really appreciate your feedback mate.
Absolutely. Happy to help. So, I actually use Space Designer on every single mix. If you watch my videos, you can confirm that lol. The only knob I ever touch on it is the Pre-Delay… and turn the Wet all the way up and the Dry all the way down of course. ?
