Mix Description

Mixed hybrid on Studio one pro and a live console. Feedback appreciated

Zakk's Mix Feedback

Really nice work on this one. Love that flute sound. I think there were a few S’s in the beginning that got caught in the reverb. Might want to look at EQing the reverb bus or just de-easing harder.

Also, this may not be your choice, but the heavy reverb sound seems like it’s disconnected from the intimate nature of the song. I guess I was expected a dryer/in your face type of vibe.

Mix Feedback from others:

  • Wait, you saying this was mixed and recorded live on the fly? Dang. Ok, so this was well balanced and not too bright. Was getting board and then he switched to falsetto just in time. And then a kick-ass flute. Only thing that bugged me was the breaths but I’ve never mixed live flute and I doubt there’s anything you could do about that.

    • Hello, thanks for your feedback. The recorded files can be downloaded for mix practice @ cambridge website. I did not capture this live I just mixed it, I guess what I meant to say is that I used Studio One Pro and a console that was used in a lot of live settings. Went from daw into mixer then printed that mix back into daw then exported. Thanx for your comments 🤘

  • Thanks you Zakk I always really appreciate your feedback! For some reason this song reminded me of music being played in an alleyway or a subway in Chicago in a echoey environment, I’m weird lol But yes the reverb does sound a bit heavy and will definitely use more de essing on vocals for sure! 🙏🤘
