Guitars through a Peavey Vypyr amp connected through USB. Guitar effects are actual stomp boxes (TubeScreamer, TC Nova Delay, Keeley Compressor Sustainer, Big Muff, Boss CE-3 and Digitech Freq-Out)
Bass is EZBass
Drums are Steven Slate Digital Drummer
Used Logic Pro X with all sort of plugins (stock and 3rd party)
There’s a high end boost on the drums that’s making them sound a little brittle instead of being punchy.
I feel like the low end has some wobbliness/rumble that’s not musical. Might need some hi-passing.
On the lead vocal, I think I’d be reaching for the low mid EQ knob and reducing some of those to smooth them out a bit.
I had that same feeling about the low end (especially during both solos). I think it’s the bass track but could figure out how to totally fix it
I would soften the intro a bit, there are some harsh frequencies in the upper mids. The song form reminds me of IQ. There is some strange compression going on with the backing vocals, it doesn’t feel right to my ears. I know the drums were programmed, but there are some timing issues with the other instrumentation. I like the feel of the song. Good job.
Well, the fact that reminds you of IQ is actually awesome for me since Prog Rock is certainly my thing.
I’ll work on those things you pointed out
