The band was tracked to analog 2″ (Sony/MCI JH24) The tracks were then dumped into Protools and we added the MIDI and drum loops. After tracking was complete, we synced up the 2 inch and mixed from the original tape, plus the loops and MIDI tracks from Protools. The song was mixed on an Otari Concept Elite with a ton of old 90’s outboard processing and dynamics.
PS has a nice Jethro Tull/aqualung feel.
Loved it. Great work. If I had to look for something that didn’t seem to fit, it would be the Snare tone.
Cool song! I don’t mind extra wide stereo for rock. I think the guitars are a little hot, but the tone is great. and I would like to have more snare. On the kick, it’s just a tad too snappy. It might just be a single harsh frequency that you could notch out though.
Nice work! 🙂
Totally agree with your assessment.
Lovely analog glue. I feel the mix could be more powerful in the mid section. Too wide stereo image can make it feel powerless.
Good feedback. Will probably squeeze the image in a bit in mastering, THANK YOU!
sounds great ,from here it sounds if the vocals get lost now and again
Thanks for the feedback. I think it is a function of the guitars being so loud and way outside. Kind of hides the vocals in spots… thanks!
