A funk arrangement I recently finished. Everything was recorded or programmed by me.
Guitar was recorded through a Hotone Ampero via Behringer UMC1820
Bass was recorded through a Zoom B3 via Behringer UMC1820
Drums were programmed using Addictive Drums 2
Keys were programmed using EzKeys, Ultra Analog 2, Triton VST
Horns were programmed with Sessions Horns Pro
Strings were programmed with Session Strings Pro
Good groove. Love the feel, but I want more “room” from the drums as they feel dry to me. Reminds of Jamiroquai. Really enjoy the mid section where the keys and horns are having a fun conversation. Solid mix, thank you sharing.
Thanks, mate! At a later listen, this morning, I think you’re right about the drums. I wanted to make them a kinda’ dry, but I guess I overdried them. I’ve added a room reverb to emulate a drum room, and the mix feels tighter now! I’ve also heard some resonances in the first soloing guitar that I kinda’ missed after prolonged listening and I’ve fixed it with some dynamic EQ-ing. Thanks for listening and sharing your opinion!
I actually don’t mind dry drums in a funk genre. Ex. Listen to some of Cory Song’s stuff. I think the drums just sound a little thin. I’d love some more beef on the snare and toms
Yeah, I don’t mind dry drums in funk. I actually like them better. Anyway, here’s the final version, if you’d fancy a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQAQ6NXd-eI
