There’s a few harsh frequencies in the cymbals that you could probably notch out. Also the vocal isn’t fully blending with the mix. I might try adding some room sound to the vocal and the instruments to glue them together a bit more
Nice job. Has a Beatles / Oasis sound. Mix is good, I just felt the cymbals and hi hats were a bit bright. Nice guitar solo.

First, I have to say the 1-10 scale ratings on this site are useless. Since many of us are unprofessional mixers, asking others to rate our mixes in a numerical value does not promote a learning experience. Comments are helpful. Ratings are not. For example, let’s assume a 10 rating is equal to a Chris Lord Alge Grammy winning mix. Therefore, the six rating I gave you would be considered quite good for an unprofessional mix engineer. But, who am I? I no longer rate mixes on this site. I feel comments are more value added. Besides, as an unprofessional mix engineer myself, my qualifications are not at a level where I can rate a mix on a numerical scale with undefined parameters. I liked your mix and enjoyed listening to it. Through my monitors I noticed a slight sizzle in the hihats and cymbals. Outside of those minor issues my ears picked up, your effort is very good.
You’re definitely right about comments being more helpful than ratings 😉 Some people I know feel uncomfortable leaving comments because they feel like they are too novice to give good feedback. While I don’t agree with that mindset, the ratings system gives people a chance to do a little bit less than a comment and I’ve found that if there are enough ratings, they can give you a good gauge on if you should rethink some things in the mix. Going through all the contest mixes, I’ve found the ratings to be “somewhat” accurate at picking out the better mixes. However, if there are only 1 or 2 ratings, it can be way to skewed.
I’m sure as the site continues to grow the ratings can become a more useful tool. Until then, we can just tape a piece of paper over that section on our computer screens 🙂
