Nice track, Danzig – “Mother” comes to my mind. Nice drum sound, but maybe too much presence? Pretty good vocals too, but like GazzerG said, maybe it could use a de-esser (like DeBess from Airwindows for example).
Thanks for the mix check and great spotting with the Danzig vibes! Have put a de-esser on cymbals and guitar and boosted some mids in the master and that has seemed to have done the trick with mix in my opinion. Thanks again for your feedback!
At first listen 2 things came to me. Not enough bottom end and too much highs. I think the highs could be helped by dipping the eq on the overheads between 1K and 2K, maybe even higher. Vocals have quite a bit of sibilance. Use a good de-esser to lower the shhh’s and sss’s. I would boost the kick around 50Hz and the bass around 100Hz. It’s overall a good mix, I really like the vocals. They could stand out a little more to my taste.
Thanks Gazza G. Some great feedback and I have done a remix where I boosted bottom end and also used a de-esser on overheads and guitars which seemed to have tamed a bit of the harshness. Thanks so much for the feedback!
I am happy to help!
I agree about the cymbal harshness. Are the guitars hi passed?
Thanks Caseype! I have remixed the song using a deesser on guitars and overheads which has tamed the harshness alot in my opinion. Yes I high passed the guitars in the original mix but the deesser has done the trick. Thanks again!
Nice classic rock feel. Love it. Matik is right about the cymbals. They are too bright which means at louder volumes the harshness will hurt people’s ears.
Thanks for the mix check and feedback Zakkleifeste! Yep have put a deesser on the overheads and that has seemed to have done the trick?
Cool! Keep up the good work 😉
Hats/Overheads too bright or too loud for me, they cover other elements in mix. Also I miss something in mids (maybe in guitars?), sounds too “dry” there. Love toms sound on fills and vocals (cool old-school vibe) 😉
Thanks Matik! I remixed the song and put a deesser on overheads and guitars as well as boosted the mids in the mastering stage which seems to have made the mix more dynamic and less harsh. Cheers again for the feedback!
