I am stuck… dunno what exactly is wrong with this mix… one called it dull some say it’s good… the guitars maybe to dull or may the problem be deeper? My objectivity is gone :-/ thanks for your feedback!

Guitars. Muddy. Maybe you’re trying to give them grunt but making it muddier. Make them cut through and use the bass guitar to provide the grunt. Saturation on the bass would help too 😉
Thank you. Yeah shit in shit out. The guitar sound was super weird from the beginning. Maybe I really put too much saturation on it… to compensate for the unpleasantly sharp sound… maybe just some little more EQing, maybe they have to be re re-recorded… Also too boomy I guess. I’m starting to get it… let’s see 🙂
Cool song! So I love the vocal sound. Nice work on that. Here’s where I’m noticing issues.
Guitars: I wouldn’t call them dull. I would call them thin. They seem to be very crunchy and lacking in the mids/low mids.
Bass: currently I can’t hear the bass guitar or tell what it’s doing.
Kick: has a super snappy top and an unfocused boomy bottom. Kinda like all the mids were scooped out. For the low end you might need to tighten the Q around 50hz to focus the low end punch.
Snare: is pretty loud and ringy. My guess is that it was boosted in the 100-500Hz range in order to make it fatter, but doing that also brought up the snare drum’s resonant frequencies. Might need to tighten the Q on your EQ band.
Just my thoughts 😉
Thank you for your feedback. Really appreciate it. Is it possible to listen to your work? 🙂 just curious
Absolutely. You can click my name on here. Or check out the Quick Mixes on my YT channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEesjp0kssQwItrzggK-QtUUc-iC2UgKb
huh… sadly your style and taste of mixing is completely different than mine and not nearly what I am trying to achieve, no offense! …really like your work in it’s own way 😉 … :-/ but it doesn’t change the fact that there are obvious problems in my mix 🙁
None taken. I understand music is very subjective in nature 😉 I would also never encourage anyone to learn from me if they don’t first like my mixes
