This mix more complicated than the previous one I posted (and received EXCELLENT feedback on – thank you!). I am eager to get it to a better place!

Really nice song. Like it a lot. Elec guitar a bit loud, but overall I think it’s great. Well done.
thanks Moriarty! I appreciate you taking the time to listen. Now, if only I could get Chris Stapleton to record it….
lovely song.. Electric guitar is a tad loud and full in the low mids, sounds like some of the tracks could do with cleanup in the low lows. Vocal sounds lovely. it will sound even nicer once that elec guitar is sorted. Good luck
thanks for taking a listen and providing thoughtful feedback! I have felt this song has a muddy quality to it and have worked to minimize that but not had a lot of success. Rolling off the EGtr easy enough but on the low mids and low lows you mention – can you provide some direction as to what instruments and specific Hz ranges you would go after? I ask because I have finagled with this again and again and can’t seem to clean it up. Thanks again for your help – it is much appreciated!
Try about a 3db cut at 400 on mixbus for mud.
thank you!
Nice and clean mix. I’d like thicker drums too
got it. thanks VERY MUCH for taking a listen!
I think I said it on the last one too, but I feel the drums could be beefed up a little bit. It’s most noticeable on the Toms. Also, the electric guitar is competing with the vocal a little bit. You can hear it kinda push the vocal down when it comes in. I’d either try panning it a little more or possibly cutting a little more of the low end out of it. It’s a tiny bit muddy. Love the music! So happy to finally have some country to review 🙂
Well, that’s a better review than I expected. This song, one of my absolute favorites, has been through a couple re-writes, a few different L Vox’ers, and about 40 mixes over the past 3 yrs or so. It’s gotten tough to mix with all the history and to to hear from a trusted source there are a relative few things that need attending is very encouraging! I will jump on those on and see what shakes out. Thanks again for all your help!
After 3 years, you’ve probably improved a lot. It might be a good idea to just start with the RAW STEMs and give it a good fresh mix 😉
