This is a continuation from the previous upload “Short Metal Mix”. Pretty much everything remains the same but with a few changes. Continuing on with guitar tones, the change this time around is that I pulled the guitar mics back about four fingers back from the guitar speakers and widen the stereo mic technique; one microphone fixed in-between the dome and the outer rim, and the mic pretty much fixed on, around the outer dome.
The overall guitar tone is a little bit more mid-focused as opposed to the first “Short Metal Mix”, where the guitar tones are more razor-sharp sounding, when compared. What contribute to this guitar tone, in this mix sounding more mid range, is once again cut -7-8db with a moderately narrow bandwidth, but at the 900-920hz range. The other changes were made, were subtle changes to overall volume of the bass guitar and small eq, dynamic and effect changes to the drums. Hope you you guys enjoy this mix. Let me know what you think of it :D.
how did you get this guitar tone ???? the tone is great
You’d be shocked when I say the guitar amp head that I used is Blackstar HT Club 50 Mark2 and speaker cabinet that I used is loaded with two Celestion Seventy 80s speakers and they are notorious for not being the ideal speakers for recording metal guitars. As far as microphones used, I used the Shure SM57 and EV PL6 for the guitar left, and the EV PL6 and the Sennheiser e906 for guitar right.
So u didnt use any amp simulator??
No amp simulator for metal rhythm guitars whatsoever.
Love the guitar tones. It’s like a modern thrash kinda sound. For the drums I think the kick is a little too thin and the snare is super compressed.
Keep up the good work!
Cool. Thanks for feedback. I am glad you like the guitar tones. There are a few more ideas that I am planning to put into action when it comes to guitar tones. That will be coming up real soon.
