recorded at my home studio and mixed in Cubase 10 using plenty of 3rd party plugins. Main preamp used was Neve portico channel. Ribbon mic for guitars and Warm 47 for vocals. Keyboards were nord piano and bass went Di. Drums were all recorded with sure mic set.
I think I was expecting everything to get big in the chorus. Did the guitar player stop playing the guitar to switch to the Rhodes?
Well balanced mix, sometimes snare have unpleasant high frequency on harder hits, something with transient maybe? (on the transitions and in the last chorus). Fast attack compressor with threshold set for only hardest hits can help with that.
Drums are always hard to get right and these sound great to me. I think there was a harsh frequency in that intro guitar that peaked my ears a little bit. Might wanna try rolling off a little high end on that guitar. Nice work!
thank you zakkleifeste, yes the guitars were a pain and had the fender spikes to deal with, i’ll take a look at that. Thanks for listening and providing feedback.
