Mix Feedback from others:

  • Good job bro. This version is much better, and alot more clear and focused. Only real comments I have for this version is the stereo image isn’t necessarily blowing me away. The vocal is pretty much setting the edge of the track and mostly everything else is pretty narrow (aside from those risers/sweeps which are wide and sound really good). Maybe the horn can be wider(stereo) to give it some more width? And the vocal is a touch loud and I’d probably cut out a small amount of low mid from the vocal. Also the vocal double that comes in around the 1:52-1:53 mark is sitting right on top of the original vocal track and they’re fighting, could you possibly pan one vocal to one side and the other vocal to the other side so they both have a space to breathe? This one is definitely an improvement though.

      • I wouldn’t say its a good or bad thing. Most of mixing comes down to personal preference. I feel most modern rap releases try to take advantage of the stereo field and somewhat exaggerate the stereo image to give the vocal it’s own dedicated space (generally the center). Your vocal isn’t in the center which is neither good nor bad, just atypical so it just makes every other element seem like it’s smaller and happening between the vocal which is also different, not bad.

  • Sounds good! Those vocals are super aggressive, almost distorted at some points. Also the instrument at the beginning is pretty low when compared to the vocal, so when the song starts I set my volume knob, and then when the vocals come in, I have to readjust my volume knob to not hurt my ears. Might want to automate that to even them out a bit.
