This is a breath of fresh air here. Thanks for posting. Yes I would probably pay a little more attention to the drums. But I like the out front vocal. I fits the plaintive mood of the lyrics.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
Love the song and great mix! I know the super forward vocal is part of the genre, but I just wonder if the vocal is maybe 1 or 2db too up front. I’d also love a little more kick drum. It’s getting lost at some points. Still just minor tweaks 😉
I don’t listen to a ton of Americana, but is it pretty normal to pan the bass? Just curious
Thanks for listening. I had thought about increasing the kick drum. I don’t know how common it is in contemporary Americana to pan the bass but it was often done in rock music of the 1960’s.
Just an opinion here but if you were standing on stage with these folks you might indeed have some bass panned to one side. If you listen to , for example an Albert King record from ’71 or ’72 you’ll hear things panned all over the place. Stones records – Keith will do one riff panned all the way left and a different riff all the way right to the point where it could be two different songs.
