Mix Description

Latest mix, first original song from a local band. All live instruments in their rehearsal room. No drumsamples or DI tracks on the live instruments, as always.
Interesting recording process, as they didn´t _ever_ send me any form of demo of the song. So I actually didn´t know the song until it was finished 😀
Production choices were all spontaneous, obviously. But it´s become pretty good, as far as i can tell.

Impressive vocal performance, consistence and technique.
Drums: Pearl – Bass: Orange / Laney – Guitars: Orange & Marshall – Keys: M-Audio / Roli Seaboard

The band didn´t exactly want the master loud and bright – they got a DJ “remix”, and that guy demanded his track super loud and obnoxiously piercing. Probably wanted to start another round of loudness war to impress clients. So I gotta come close and make it sound similar. Still okay?

Mix Feedback from others:

  • yoo, thanks!
a few db? hell, it´s way down compared to other productions, about 3 db lower already 😀

vocals are AKG C747 shotgun mic, about 1ft distance except for the “speaking”

  • Recordings sound excellent. Love the vocal tone. Love the relationship between the bass and the guitars. I think you blended those across the frequency spectrum nicely.

The vocal seems a few dB too hot. I would love to hear the drums and band more 🙂
