Another original of mine. Fairly simple arrangement with piano, vox, bass and drums. I call this a country ballad. Thanks in advance for taking a listen.

really nice. feels real. Builds well. melodic. Could use some violins along with the “ahhs” for a final build?
thanks Glenn. I love the strings idea – maybe a single violin up high so it doesn’t clash with the ahhs or would you go with more of a string ensemble?
Which piano patch is that?
I used EZ Keys for the midi notes, based on the chords I entered and the style I selected. For the actual piano sound I used the NY Grand Piano (no overtones) on Kontakt 5.
Nice. Not an overtones fan? 😉
I stand corrected. I went back and checked and I did use the NY Grand with overtones patch. I remember considering the alternative so that I could have more freedom with reverbs at mix down but it looks like I went with the overtones. Which is my go to patch for hacking on the keys (I’m a guitar player). I was really impressed with EZ Keys – there were ample style options available, broken up by intro, verses, prechorus, chorus, bridge, et al so you could mix and match at will. But of course the actual piano samples were much better in Kontakt. Once I printed the piano track I added some EQ and used Pro-R piano room large preset for the reverb.
I don’t think there’s anything too wrong with the mix. I just feel like the instruments are little TOO clean. I’d try experimenting with different Room sounds to see if you can get rid of that pristine MIDI instrument feel.
LOL – So, the drums finally hit the mark??
Lol. Yeah I don’t think they are too thin this time 🙂
