First rough mix using Harrison’s Mixbus V6. I utilized mostly the eq. + compression on it’s channel strips then 2 slate digital plugins on the master bus for some volume. I was having lot’s of trouble getting rid of the hiss on one of the instruments hehe, not sure if this is a live performance or how it was recorded, regardless great song… I do like the feel of working with the Mixbus though. 🙂 Open to criticism
Maybe put a hard 80’s gated reverb on that snare. Given the simplicity of the snare hit, it’s a great candidate for a gated reverb.
The vocal sounds great. Strong artist. “Can’t read the signs” sound be retracted or time corrected. Awesome reverb on the tambourine. I feel like sub bass would be due at this same point in the song if you’re not done tracking. I don’t think the noise you mentioned is even an issue once you get into the track. If anything, it probably adds a natural studio ambience.
Nice work. I’d try to edit out some of those spit/lip smack sounds in the vocal. Which instrument is the hiss coming from?
The hiss is coming from a wurlitzer piano, I did try using a gate but no bueno. Any suggestions?
Is it a high frequency hiss that you can eliminate with a Low pass? Or if that doesn’t work, that’s when I’d be reaching for iZotope RX7
