Mix Description

This is a set of MT Cambridge stems i’ve mixed in Reaper using only stock plugins. This is part of a ‘competition’ at reamixed.com but there are no prizes.. It’s more a learning experience as after the contest everyone’s projects are made available to download so you can see how others have solved any issues.I’m going to step away for a good few hours listen to it with fresh ears. But any advice or tips would be welcome.

Mix Feedback from others:

  • Nice job. I think stylistically id like the drums to be a little punchier and in your face, but that’s just my subjective opinion and it would ultimately depend on the artists vision.

Also the acoustic is a little thin sounding in the beginning. I know you might need to do that to get it to fit in the mix, but maybe for the parts where it’s just the acoustic playing, you can automate the low end back in

    • Thank you so much for listening.

I normally do my own stuff which is metal or hip-hop so it’s usually slamming drums. But I felt the song was better with laid back drums. Sort of like a 60s Slingerland drums. The artist’s version is a bit more rock with heavier drums.

And your right about the acoustic guitars. I high passed them first, then almost removed the HP because they felt thin. But I’ve lost perspective on them so you saying that doesn’t surprise me. Also maybe that’s an effect of the reverb I’ve added. I’ll look at what I can do.

      Thanks again.
